About the event
The 2024 Sumter County Fair in Bushnell runs from March 1 to March 9, and the theme is Blazin’ Trails at the Sumter County Fair. There is something at the fair for all attending to enjoy including exhibits, animals, rides and the food (especially those funnel cakes)! The UF/IFAS Extension Sumter County Master Gardener Volunteers host the Sumter County Fair’s Horticulture Show which provides a great opportunity for Sumter County youth and adults to be recognized not only for ornamental and houseplants, and now includes adult entries for home-grown vegetables, fruits and eggs!
In addition to the home-grown category at the Horticulture Show, if entering houseplant or landscape plant entries, adults and youth should have had them for at least two months, except for dish gardens which could be grown for one month. Containers must be clean, and it is essential that plant entries are clean, and free of pests, insects, diseases and weeds.
