Community Development Districts 1 - 10
Irrigation Schedules

On November 16, 2010, the Southwest Florida Water Management District’s Governing Board voted to declare a Phase I water shortage for the District’s entire 16-county area beginning Dec. 1.

The Phase I alert is intended to raise the public’s awareness of dry conditions, and to direct water utilities and their local governments to prepare for worsening conditions. Under Phase I, residents are asked to check their irrigation systems to ensure they are working properly. This means testing and repairing broken pipes and leaks, and damaged or tilted sprinkler heads. Residents should also check their irrigation timer to ensure the settings are correct and the rain sensor is working properly in accordance with state law.

There are no changes to watering days or times in a Phase 1 water shortage therefore the District’s year-round water conservations measures remain in effect. Under the District’s year-round water conservation measures, lawn and landscape watering remains limited to a two-day-per-week schedule, and residents may only water before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m.

For additional information about water restrictions and water conservation, please contact your local utility or visit SWFWMD’s web site at www.WaterMatters.org/conservation

The following is a summary of the restrictions:

• Lawn watering is limited to twice per week.

• Irrigation schedules for residents in The Villages vary from that of SWFWMD's schedule. The schedule is dependent upon the Community Development District that a resident resides in. Please refer to the table below for specific schedules.

• Watering may only occur before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m. on the scheduled days.

• Handwatering or microirrigation of non-lawn landscape is allowed.

• Certain exemptions are available, such as allowances for new plant material.

• There are no restrictions on fountains, car washing and pressure washing. However, it is important to be as efficient as possible, such as using a shut-off nozzle on the hose, so water isn't wasted.

a. Recommended Zone Run Times are based on normal rainfall conditions.
• During times of drought, you may need to supplement your irrigation system by hand watering using a hose with an automatic shut off nozzle.
• During times of rainfall, you may be able to turn your irrigation system off for an extended period of time.
The Southwest Florida Water Management District may impose additional watering restrictions as part of a water shortage order that must be complied with.
